Pixim's Orca Chipset Delivers Competitive Edge for GE Security's New XP3 Surveillance Camera

GE's Pixim-Enabled XP3 Surveillance Box Camera Employs Dual Temperature Sensor Calibration for Superior Image Quality at High Temperature

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 31, 2007 -- Pixim, Incorporated's award-winning Digital Pixel System® (DPS) technology is integrated into GE Security's new box camera, the KTC-XP3 UltraView, the first in GE's XP3 Surveillance Camera Series. The KTC-XP3 is the next generation in wide dynamic range cameras. Like the first generation KTC-XP1, the KTC-XP3 UltraView uses the latest XPosure image capture technology to provide world-leading performance in challenging lighting conditions combined with dramatically improved low-light performance.

GE Security's new XP3 Camera Series fully leverages Pixim's Orca chipset, providing industry leading wide dynamic range for accurate color and minimal blooming and smear in extreme lighting conditions. Wide dynamic range ensures accurate video capture in challenging lighting conditions, such as glare, direct sunlight, reflections, and strong backlight, 24/7.

The KTC-XP3 employs dual temperature sensor calibration technology, which dynamically corrects thermal noise as the sensor cyclically heats and cools during the day and night throughout the year. Image quality is consistent compared to competitive sensors that lose picture quality due to thermally generated noise for example when the camera is installed in a sealed weather housing or during periods of direct, intensive solar radiation.

DPS technology's image consistency and accuracy overcomes typical impediments of existing analog CCD sensors, which have trouble producing positive subject identification caused by image blooming and smear, as well as limited color fidelity. The DPS image sensor converts light to a digital signal at each pixel, enabling each pixel to have independent, optimized exposure times to deliver the highest image quality and color accuracy.

Pixim's DPS chipsets are compact and easy to configure. GE Security's KTC-XP3 takes advantage of the fully-featured D2500R Orca Chipset providing settings options that can be specifically tuned for each application such as digital pan-tilt-zoom and configurable image parameters. Pre-made profiles allow users easy camera set-up for the majority of environments. In addition, five multi-language menus are built into the camera.

"GE's next-generation product line employing XPosure technology, the XP3 UltraView Camera Series, capitalizes on Pixim's leading edge technology for asset security," comments John Monti, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Pixim. "Pixim's DPS technology provides GE Security with state-of-the-art image capture and processing technology which complements GE's comprehensive surveillance system solutions."

Frost & Sullivan recently named Pixim, Inc. as the recipient of the 2006 Technology Innovation & Leadership of the Year Award in the field of video surveillance technology in recognition of its development of the Orca chipset.
