Pixim's Orca Chipset Is Foundation for Speco Technologies' Three New Wide Dynamic Range Security Cameras

Speco Introduces Pixim-Enabled Box, Bullet and Dome Cameras to Meet the Needs of Both Residential and Commercial Contractors, Installers, Builders, Engineers and Architects

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 13, 2007 -- Pixim, Incorporated's award-winning Digital Pixel System® (DPS) technology is integrated into Speco Technologies' new family of wide dynamic range security box, bullet and dome cameras to provide world-leading performance in challenging lighting conditions. Speco's Pixim-enabled surveillance cameras will sell through security distribution channels to a wide variety of markets that include industry, business, education and government, as well as high-end residential.

Speco's new security cameras fully leverage Pixim's DPS technology, the industry's leading wide dynamic range solution, that delivers accurate video capture and color accuracy in challenging lighting conditions, such as glare, direct sunlight, reflections, and strong backlight, 24/7.

"Speco has had a keen interest in Pixim's novel technology for some time," said Gary Perlin, Speco Technologies' Vice President of Video Products. "Recent advancements in Pixim's Orca product family encouraged us to take advantage of the benefits of DPS technology in our new high quality, mainstream cameras. Pixim's wide dynamic range will be a key feature addition for Speco in several of our core markets, including industrial, business, educational, and government installations."

Pixim's DPS image sensor converts light to a digital signal at each pixel, enabling each pixel to have independent, optimized exposure times. DPS technology's image consistency and accuracy overcomes typical impediments of existing analog CCD sensors, which have trouble producing positive subject identification caused by image blooming and smear, as well as limited color fidelity.

Speco's new family of Pixim-enabled cameras include the WDR-T6, a traditional "box style" camera, the WDR-B1 bullet camera that is weatherproof with a 2.8-10mm varifocal auto iris lens and the WDR-D3 dome camera that is both weatherproof and tamperproof with a 2.8-10mm varifocal auto iris lens for wall or ceiling mount.

Frost & Sullivan recently named Pixim, Inc. as the recipient of the 2006 Technology Innovation & Leadership of the Year Award in the field of video surveillance technology in recognition of its development of the Orca chipset.
