Pizza 73 keeps flying high as it celebrates 30th anniversary

Western Canada's pizza chain introduces new ordering sites and offers AIR MILES reward miles to customers

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - March 30, 2015) - Pizza 73, Western Canada's leading pizza chain, turns 30 this year and is celebrating the big milestone with a variety of new launches and an exciting new partnership.

The company opened the doors to its first location in Edmonton, Alberta, in 1985 with a mission to provide a "better meal at a better deal". Building on this foundation, Pizza 73 is going to mark the occasion by offering rewards and added convenience for its customers.

To start, Pizza 73 has launched a new and improved website, iPhone app and mobile website that feature a new hot and fresh look with enhancements to the overall user experience. The company is no amateur when it comes to convenience. It launched a one-number phone ordering system for customers to easily remember 30 years ago, was among the first pizza companies to offer online ordering in 2007, then followed that with the launch of an iPhone app in 2011. Pizza 73 has quickly become a market leader in this segment with a digital customer base that exceeds 40 per cent of its business and the company expects to see further growth with the new upgraded platforms.

"In 1985, Pizza 73 opened its doors and introduced the dream of delivering great food with great value to Albertans," said Pat Finelli Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza 73. "Over this 30-year history, Pizza 73 has grown to become Western Canada's pizza leader. It's important for us to keep up with evolving tastes and behaviours through continuous innovation of products and technology. Offering convenience, choice, quality food and value are what the market is hungry for and where we want to lead."

As another way of thanking its customers for 30 years of business, Pizza 73 has partnered with the AIR MILES® Reward Program. Starting March 23, customers will receive five reward miles when ordering by phone or online twice in one month, on orders of $35 or more. To kick it off, the pizza chain will also offer an introductory bonus that allows customers to earn 25 reward miles on any single order, placed online or by phone, starting at $35, until April 12.

"We're very excited to offer rewards to our customers through AIR MILES in the spirit of our 30th anniversary," said Finelli. "There are many reasons to order from Pizza 73; this is just the icing on the cake or, in our terms, the pepperoni on top of the pie."

Over the past 30 years, Pizza 73 has grown from its first location at 9234 34th Avenue in Edmonton to become a leader in Western Canada that has 73 stores across Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. The company serves an expanded menu offering, which includes a broad range of specialty pizzas with fresh sides like chicken wings, boneless wings, jalapeno poppers, salads, wedgies and more.
