Planning to address the Ontario curriculum

ETFO professional upgrading courses continue in July Attention: Assignment Editor, City Editor, Education Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 14, 2005) - The new Ontario curriculum covers a lot of ground. Managing the curriculum, and planning efficiently and effectively will be the topics of a summer course offered by the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) and the Ottawa Carleton Teacher Local.

The course is one of a wide range of professional development opportunities offered this summer by ETFO in partnership with its locals across the province. Courses are taught by ETFO members and designed to provide teachers with practical skills and resources to use in their classrooms. Hundreds of elementary teachers are expected to take part.

Available courses include a women's leadership institute, principals' qualifications program, and credit courses.

ETFO and the Ottawa Carleton Teacher Local are offering:

What: Smart Practical Planning That Works!

When: July 18, 19, and 20

Where: Confederation High School,1645 Woodroffe Ave., Ottawa, ON

This practical and interactive course is designed to assist all classroom and specialist teachers from kindergarten to grade 8 to develop long-range, assignment-specific plans and put them into practice. Assessment and evaluation strategies, inclusive activities, equity issues, teaching strategies, and day-by-day lesson plans will be incorporated.
