Plans for New Power Generation in New York Could Increase Capacity by 31%, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - April 23, 2008) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Developers are proposing more than 12,500 megawatts (MW) of new generation in New York. If these projects come to fruition, the state's generation capacity could increase by 31%, bringing capacity up from about 44,400 MW to about 52,900 MW. NRG Energy Incorporated (NYSE:NRG) plans to install a 600 MW integrated gasification combined-cycle unit at its Huntley Station, and the Constellation Energy Group (NYSE:CEG) could add a 1,600 MW unit at its Nine Mile Point Nuclear Power Station in Lycoming.
