Plasma Appoints Dr. Wayne Maddever as Interim CEO/President

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 6, 2006) - Plasma Environmental Technologies Inc. (PET) (TSX VENTURE:PE), a Canadian company that turns waste into clean energy, is pleased to announce that Dr. Wayne Maddever has joined Plasma's management team as interim CEO. The current CEO, Mr. John Wright, is on a personal leave of absence. Mr. John Wright will continue on the Board of Directors. The background and experience that Dr. Maddever brings to PET, will be valuable during commercialization of the PAG (Plasma Assisted Gasifier), the company's waste to clean energy technology.

Wayne J. Maddever, B.A.Sc., M.A.Sc., Ph.D., P.Eng., principal of bbp Consulting, received his Doctorate from the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science Engineering at the University of Toronto in 1978. His main area of study was gas metal interactions during steelmaking and casting operations, with particular emphasis on plasma steelmaking and the effect of plasmas on these interactions.

Dr. Maddever has held senior management positions at a number of technically based companies over the last ten years. Recently he has been deeply involved with the field of distributed power generation, as well as recycling of consumer products such as ink jet and laser printer cartridges. He is currently Vice President of Technology for Cymat Corp., a Canadian advanced materials company. He sits on the Board of Directors of two publicly traded companies.

Alex Falconer will continue to be involved as a part time CFO, allowing him to pursue other interests.

The company's "Plasma Assisted Gasifier" (PAG) is a unique cogeneration system that safely and effectively converts solid organic waste into energy, a technology co-owned by Kinectrics Inc. The PAG utilizes the plasma gasification of waste materials with significant BTU values to produce a high value fuel gas which is rich in Hydrogen. Waste (feedstock) that may be converted into hydrogen by the PAG includes sorted municipal solid waste (MSW) such as non recyclable plastics. The energy produced can either be sold, or used internally to supplement the site's electricity costs. This form of distributed, alternative energy is a rapidly growing niche market.
