Plateau to Host Free Seminar Addressing Talent Management Issues in the Energy Industry

Leading Industry Experts Will Present Best Practices for Accelerating Workforce Performance Within the Energy Sector

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwire - June 14, 2010) -  Plateau Systems, a leading provider of enterprise-class SaaS solutions for talent management, today announced that it will host a free energy Industry Insights Breakfast Seminar on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 in Houston, Texas, led by Catherine Madden, a senior research analyst at IDC focused on oil and gas, and André Walter, an organizational development executive from Technip USA, the North American business unit of Technip, a world leader in engineering and construction for the oil and gas industry. The seminar will address the growing talent management concerns facing the energy industry and offer best practice planning advice for human resource leaders on how they can develop the 'next generation' of the energy sector workforce and manage new regulatory requirements.

Just as the demand for technical expertise has increased, the number of experienced employees in the oil and gas industry has decreased, leaving energy executives with a workforce crisis. According to estimates from the Independent Petroleum Association of America, 40 percent of the industry's skilled professionals are reaching retirement age in 2010. This looming shortage, coupled with a challenging regulatory environment and an increased focus on safety training, is forcing energy executives to develop talent management strategies that address the diminishing talent pool, demographic changes and emerging compliance mandates. The goal of this seminar, which will combine case studies, research-based presentations and peer discussion, is to help energy industry HR leaders develop an action plan for building and executing a talent management strategy that focuses on the specific needs and requirements of their industry.

"The shortage of skilled workers and the need for improved regulatory training in the energy industry are front-page news items," said Jeff Kristick, senior vice president of marketing at Plateau. "This seminar will give attendees a roadmap for establishing successful talent management strategies that address these significant industry-wide issues."
