Platinum Studios, Inc. Adds Mark Canton to Board of Directors

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - June 9, 2010) - Platinum Studios, Inc. (OTCBB: PDOS), an entertainment company that controls an international library of more than 5,600 comic book characters which it adapts, produces and licenses for all forms of media, announced the addition of Mark Canton to its Board of Directors.

Canton adds a depth of experience and expertise in the Hollywood film community. Having been Chairman of Sony's Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Companies and former head of worldwide production at Warner Bros. and currently chairman of Atmosphere Entertainment, Canton has been involved in over 300 major Hollywood productions, including blockbuster comic book adaptations such as "Batman," "Men In Black" and "300." Canton has a unique capacity to help navigate the industry's nuances, illuminating and solving challenges created by the ever-changing entertainment industry and economy and exploring new financial structures in the current environment.

"As demand expands for original content for film and television, Mark's deep expertise and broad experience will be a valuable asset to our team," said Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, chairman and CEO of Platinum. "We believe his long and successful history in bringing major comic book-inspired projects to the screen, combined with his guidance and contributions on a Board level will help position Platinum to compete in the global market for quality entertainment product."

Rosenberg and Canton first worked together when Canton was chairman of the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Companies, where he green lit the billion-dollar franchise "Men In Black," a comic book property introduced to him by Rosenberg. The prolific producer will have two movies released in 2010: "Letters to Juliet," a romantic drama, was released in May by Summit Entertainment and "Piranha 3-D," which Canton describes as "'Jaws' for a new generation," will be released in August by Dimension Films. Relativity Media's "Immortals," an epic mythological tale which is being produced by Canton with "300" partner Gianni Nunnari and Relativity Media's Ryan Kavanaugh began filming in April for a November 2011 release by Relativity/Universal Pictures.

Platinum Studios' film and TV division has seen a significant increase in development and production activity lately, and this week will see the start of principal photography of "Cowboys & Aliens" with producers Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer and DreamWorks, Universal Pictures, Imagine Entertainment and Kurtzman/Orci (the writing team behind the "Transformers" franchise and the resurrected "Star Trek" franchise) and has seen the completion of the independently financed feature, "Dylan Dog: Dead of Night" with partners Hyde Park Entertainment and Omnilab Media. In addition, Platinum is developing "Unique" with "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman at Walt Disney Pictures, "The Witchblade" with "Wanted" executive producer Marc Silvestri, Top Cow Productions, Inc. and Arclight Films, "The Weapon" with Disney Channel's "Wizards of Waverly Place" star David Henrie, "Mal Chance" with Tony Krantz ("24" and "Mulholland Drive"), an untitled feature film project at Sony Pictures Animation, "Nightfall" with producer William Stuart, "Blood Nation" with producer Alexandra Milchan, "Meet the Haunteds" with director and producer Steve Carr and Platinum Studios is developing "Indestructible Man" and "Gunplay" for TV with FOX21.
