Play a Game, Plant a Tree, Protect the Planet

GSN Digital Teams Up With Arbor Day Foundation for Third Year

WALTHAM, MA--(Marketwire - Apr 22, 2011) - It's time for gaming to go green! GSN Digital, the interactive division of Game Show Network (GSN), announced a renewed partnership between its cash competition site, WorldWinner, and the Arbor Day Foundation to turn game play into planted trees. The special edition Play, Plant and Protect charity tournaments, featuring players' favorite WorldWinner games, begins today, Earth Day, and concludes on Arbor Day, Friday, April 29.

This is the third year that WorldWinner and the Arbor Day Foundation are joining forces. The two previous series of Play, Plant and Protect charity tournaments raised close to $50,000 for the Foundation. For every dollar donated, the Arbor Day Foundation plants a tree in one of the United States' most devastated forests in need of replanting -- that's 200 acres of forest land planted on behalf of WorldWinner players! Each tree planted has a major impact -- according to the U.S. Forest Service, forests in the United States provide drinking water to more than 180 million people, and trees properly placed around buildings and homes can reduce air conditioning needs by 30 percent and save 20 to 50 percent of energy used in heating.

Game lovers looking to do their part can contribute by choosing from several charity tournaments at WorldWinner.com. Ten percent of the entry fees from the Play, Plant and Protect tournaments will be donated to the Arbor Day Foundation. There are several tournaments to choose from, including a Wheel of Fortune tournament with a $10,000 prize pool.

"We're proud to partner with the Arbor Day Foundation for the third time and build on the nearly $50,000 we've contributed thus far," said Peter Blacklow, executive vice president of GSN Digital and president of WorldWinner. "Our special edition Play, Plant and Protect tournaments give our players the chance to give back to a cause we're passionate about -- replenishing our nation's forests and protecting our environment."
