PlayJam and Electra Deliver Rich Interactivity and Games to True Mass Market TV at CES 2009

LONDON--(Marketwire - December 22, 2008) - CES 2009 -- PlayJam (, the world's largest TV games network, and Electra (, a provider of a scalable multimedia platform for digital TV products, are delivering a richer interactive entertainment experience to TV. PlayJam leads the way to the next generation of social games on TV, while Electra's scalable software platform, Trove, and its second generation iTrove, provide a seamless viewer experience between broadcast and Internet delivered content.

The two companies will present the benefits of rich interactivity, casual and skills-based games and the new revenue sources they can offer consumer electronics (CE) manufacturers, retail partners and network providers in the Casual Gaming TechZone, South Hall 2, Booth 25535, at CES 2009, January 8 - 11 in Las Vegas.

Combined, PlayJam's Games Network and Electra's Trove digital TV platform provide a substantial library of games, social networking, targeted advertising and interactive applications, creating a must have service for consumers and new revenue sources for partners.

In today's CE world, the majority of phones and screen-based devices support games and other interactive services. Yet it is virtually impossible for consumers to buy a TV equipped with such services. PlayJam and Electra are focused on bringing TV to life with games and richer interactivity.

"Our goal is to offer an added value viewer experience which entertains, promotes loyalty and generates significant revenues," said Jasper Smith, a founder of PlayJam and Electra. "With more than a billion TV sets in use, many of these will become IP connected and able to support consumer demand for rich interactivity. PlayJam and Trove are ideally positioned to exploit this opportunity."

At CES, visitors will see live demos and talk with executives about how to get games and rich interactivity into their devices, networks and retail channels. Demonstrations will include:

-- PlayJam Games Network - PlayJam will announce an agreement with a
major CE manufacturer and demonstrate new features in its range of games
packages to maximize the stickiness of the games experience for players.
The company will also show its new scalable global portal design released
earlier this year on the BSkyB platform in the UK, providing the
flexibility to deploy the same portal on any platform, including iTV,
Internet, mobile and IPTV, with very efficient bandwidth usage.
-- Trove - Electra will show live demos of the Trove interactive digital
TV platform and introduce iTrove, which expands the interactive experience
by adding Internet delivered content and a return path over Wi-Fi. Trove
and iTrove uniquely store content locally in the receiver. High quality
content can be delivered using minimal bandwidth, making it many times more
efficient than other technologies, such as MHEG, MHP and OCAP.
