Playworld Systems Launches PlayPod™, a 24/7 Mobile Customer Support Tool

Leading Manufacturer First in Industry to Leverage Microsoft Tag Technology

LEWISBURG, PA--(Marketwire - Feb 7, 2012) - Playworld Systems, a leading manufacturer of imaginative playground and fitness equipment, today announced the launch of PlayPod™. PlayPod delivers a playground ownership experience unmatched in the industry. It provides instant access to individualized installation and maintenance data and customer service links as well as fun play tips. PlayPod is a value-added service that works when users download the free Tag mobile app to a smartphone at and scan the Microsoft Tag attached to Playworld Systems' equipment. Once the 2D code is scanned, users are directed to a welcome screen with links to contact information for a local Playworld Systems representative and additional content including:

  • Nuts & Bolts: Provides access to important maintenance documents, installation instructions, product numbers and much more
  • Fun & Play Tips: Offers weekly play tips, the option to check-in at a playground via Facebook and more

"As a family-owned business, we differentiate ourselves by providing a best-in-class customer experience, and PlayPod delivers on that mission," said Matt Miller, chief executive officer of Playworld Systems. "This new tool simplifies the process of maintaining a playground over time. Maintenance professionals no longer have to locate reference materials or call a distributor to find the information they need. PlayPod will save maintenance professionals precious time and money."

PlayPod will be shipped with all new Playworld Systems playground and fitness equipment orders. For existing playgrounds, Playworld Systems is offering an upgrade to PlayPod; owners should contact their local dealer for more information. For more than 40 years, Playworld Systems has revolutionized the playground industry with introductions like its environmentally-friendly PVC-Free Eco-Armor, NEOS, the first outdoor electronic game for playgrounds, and now PlayPod.

"Playworld Systems' imaginative use of Microsoft Tag demonstrates the true potential of this technology and the opportunity for companies to redefine how they deliver upon maintenance and service," said Aaron Getz, general manager of Microsoft Tag at Microsoft Corp. "On the flip side, it also empowers customers with everything they need to maximize outdoor play and fitness time."
