Plixer Selected Among Best Places to Work in Maine

Plixer Joins Forty-Two Companies Selected by Maine State Council of SHRM

SANFORD, ME--(Marketwire - Aug 23, 2012) - Plixer International, Inc., a leading provider of NetFlow-based network traffic reporting and threat detection technology, today announced it has been selected by The Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine. The winning companies will be honored and ranked during an award banquet to be held on October 11, 2012 at the Ramada Conference Center in Lewiston, Maine.

The statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Maine, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. The 2012 Best Places to Work in Maine list is made up of 42 companies in two size categories: small/medium (15-249 U.S. employees) and large (250+ U.S. employees). To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  • Have at least 15 employees working in Maine;
  • Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity;
  • Be a publicly or privately held business;
  • Have a facility in the state of Maine; and
  • Must be in business a minimum of 1 year.

"Plixer's greatest asset is indeed our employees," said Michael Patterson, CEO, Co-Founder, Plixer International. "In particular, we have found that the State of Maine offers our organization a highly-skilled employee base, and given our particular technology offering -- that's something not too easily found. We are proud to have been selected to by SHRM for our employee-driven programs and incentives -- from rewards to healthy lifestyle competitions."

The assessment process, administered by the Best Companies Group (BCG), evaluated each company's employee policies and procedures as well as responses from the company's employees. The program marks the most recent step in a long-term initiative to encourage growth and excellence throughout all Maine companies. The program also helps companies that want to improve their score. The Best Companies Group "Employee Feedback Report" is presented to each participating company, even if it did not make the list. The report summarizes employee engagement and satisfaction data, the "Maine Benchmark Report," and the transcript of employee written comments. The report is used by many organizations to make significant improvements in their workplace culture.

Peter Burke, President of Best Companies Group, stated, "If you want to know if employees love coming to work every day, and if you want to know if trust, respect, and communication permeate the culture... ask the employees. That's exactly what we at BCG did to determine the Best Places to Work in Maine. The companies that make this list are there because their employees said they belong there. On average over 90% of the employees working for the 42 Best Places to Work in Maine are engaged and connected to their employer. That is pretty remarkable and should be celebrated."

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Maine. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics and was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience and was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Maine as well as analyzed the data to determine the final rankings.
