Plixer Unveils PFR Reporting

Scrutinizer Integration With Cisco IOS Infrastructure Yields Increased Network Application Performance for Better End-User Experience

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 11, 2012) - Cisco Live (Booth #633) - Today at Cisco Live, Cisco's annual IT and communications conference, Plixer International, Inc., a leading provider of NetFlow-based network traffic reporting, announced that its Scrutinizer traffic analysis software now supports reporting features for Cisco Performance Routing (PfR), Scrutinizer provides reporting and analysis that helps network administrators dramatically improve application availability and network performance. Plixer will provide real-time analysis of NetFlow data collected from the network running at Cisco Live from Booth #633.

Business applications such as telepresence and VoIP services are now integral tools within the corporate environment. To improve the performance of these tools, network administrators typically increase network bandwidth by adding more connectivity options -- a costly endeavor that eventually yields the same slower application performance. Exacerbating this situation is the onslaught of smartphones and tablets connecting to enterprise networks a.k.a. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and consuming bandwidth typically reserved for business applications. Plixer's Scrutinizer Product Manager, Michael Patterson, explains how his company is teaming with companies such as Cisco to help alleviate these problems.

"We have worked closely with Cisco to create a PfR and Scrutinizer integration that enables network administrators to easily peer deep into network traffic flowing through Cisco routers, and restore/regain valuable bandwidth -- without the expense of adding new devices and connections," Patterson said. "In essence, you can't fix what you can't see. We developed new, in-depth PfR reporting features that transcribe routing data to visually display network traffic congestion areas, so administrators may easily identify the root cause of slow applications and immediately take the appropriate actions to correct it."

New Scrutinizer reports for Cisco PfR include:

  • Passive and active reports on Jitter, Mean Opinion Score and Round Trip Time
  • Out of Policy reports on Jitter, Mean Opinion Score and Round Trip Time
  • Dashboards summarizing the above reports
  • Flow Hopper™ which displays the hop by hop path a flow takes through the network
