Plum Productions Partners With Screenwriting Legend Syd Field on New Online Interview Series "ScreenPlay"

Interviews With Hollywood's Most Successful Writers & Directors Available via Video Website, iTunes Podcast and RSS Feed on January 23rd

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 16, 2007 -- Award-winning production company Plum Productions has teamed up with Hollywood's leading screenwriting authority Syd Field to create "ScreenPlay," a new online interview series launching on January 23rd.

"For years, I've wanted to do a series like this," says Field. "The craft of the screenwriter has always seemed veiled in some kind of mystery. 'ScreenPlay' gives us the opportunity of going behind the scenes and seeing how the writer travels the road from blank sheet of paper to the final shooting script. And, it's an amazing journey."

"Syd Field and I have known each other since high school," explains Chuck Sloan, Executive Producer. "We've talked about doing a program like this for many years, and with current advances in technology and the emergence of the new media market, it became economically viable to do the show on our own. Our goal is to create something entertaining and educational for both the layperson and the professional. We are all storytellers, and as Syd has taught the world, it is both an art and craft."

The show features in-depth and personal interviews with Hollywood's most successful writers and directors, guided by screenwriting guru Syd Field. Interviewees include Michael Arndt ("Little Miss Sunshine"), Simon Kinberg ("Mr. & Mrs. Smith" & "X-Men: The Last Stand"), Stuart Beattie ("Collateral" & "Pirates of the Caribbean"), as well as Director Richard Linklater who co-wrote the screenplay for "Fast Food Nation" with Author Eric Schlosser. There several more in the works.

Interviews will be made available via a video website,, an iTunes podcast and blogger-friendly RSS feed. By taking advantage of existing technologies, the series will strive to create interaction and feedback with its audience, adapting and evolving as the series develops. Future potential applications of "ScreenPlay" include expanding it into a television show.

"It really is a one-of-a-kind show," adds Amber Ventris, Producer. "We give the viewer a unique glimpse into just what it's like to be a Hollywood screenwriter, told first-hand by the writers themselves. They talk candidly about all of the struggles that led up to their first taste of success and how they now navigate both the studio and independent feature worlds. It's a great opportunity for screenwriters to tell their own stories of how they got to where they are, as well as an excellent learning tool for up-and-comers."

"'ScreenPlay' is an exciting new way for all kinds of writers to hear the experiences and perceptions of other writers," comments Stuart Beattie, Screenwriter. "From my own experience, listening to writers speak taught me about the craft and business of screenwriting in ways that no book or class ever could."
