Podcast Advisory: Country Superstar Lee Ann Womack Does Her Part to Fight Heart Disease

Cheerios® Partners With The Heart Truth and WomenHeart to Help Raise Awareness About the Risk of Heart Disease in Women

MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 8, 2007 -- Country superstar, Lee Ann Womack, is used to singing about heartache, but now she is turning her attention to help in the fight against heart disease. Recognizing heart disease as the # 1 killer of American women, she is working to raise awareness and provide education about heart disease prevention in women.

In this podcast, Lee Ann Womack discusses the risks and astounding facts about women's heart health and offers simple steps women can take to start down the road to a healthy heart.

Although most women do not consider themselves at risk for heart disease, the reality is almost eight times more women die of heart disease than breast cancer. While results from a recent American Heart Association survey show awareness of heart disease as women's # 1 killer is at an all time high, statistics reveal most women still fail to make the connection between the risk factors and developing heart disease.

Women can lower their heart disease risk by as much as 82 percent just by leading a healthy lifestyle. Regrettably, only three percent of American women take all the steps toward prevention, including maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, not smoking, and visiting a doctor to learn about their risk factors.

Lee Ann Womack is currently serving as a spokesperson for the Cheerios Circle of Helping Hearts program to help increase awareness about heart disease among women and help raise up to $500,000 for WomenHeart.
