PointCare Launches PointCare Academy for Hospitals, Vendors, & Clinics Seeking Self-Pay Patient Screening Solutions

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwired - May 22, 2013) - PointCare, a health coverage screening software provider, has announced the launch of PointCare Academy, a comprehensive training program to support health facilities' and vendors' use of its software, PointCarePA. The web-based system screens uninsured patients for every public and private health coverage option in the United States.

PointCarePA was introduced at the HIMSS13 Conference in March where PointCare's Chief Operations Officer, Ankeny Minoux, presented the company's unique approach to the successful screening of uninsured patients.

"What benefits health facilities and vendors most is being able to emphasize the critical role that staff plays in engaging uninsured patients and educating them about their coverage options," said Minoux. "This becomes even more critical as ACA-changes bring an influx of new patients through their doors with more questions and a greater need for understanding the new programs."

PointCare Academy offers clients the ability to purchase five independent courses with topics including, "How to Use PointCarePA," "Understanding Health Care Costs and Available Coverage Options," "How Hospital Reimbursement Works," and "What to Expect with Health Care Reform." The courses are taught onsite or online. Prior to each training session, clients are given the ability to review and customize their session to incorporate their own organization's admissions policy information and specific staffing protocols.

"It is important for each health facility and vendor to develop a consistent self-pay screening process, not only to comply with federal and state regulations, but also to build a reputation in the community for being an organization that strives to create an educational and dignified patient experience," Minoux said. "Using PointCarePA and having staff participate in our PointCare Academy Training Program allows our clients to screen patients for coverage options efficiently and accurately empowering both staff members and patients."

PointCare's software and training programs have already assisted several CA-based health facilities and vendors and are being applauded as a critical step to stemming the rising cost of uncompensated care. The screening tools and training program are being offered to health facilities and vendors nationwide. PointCarePA is a low-cost transaction based monthly subscription program.
