TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 16, 2011) - School's almost out and many Canadians are busy planning their annual summer vacations. Those choosing to stay in-country have a plethora of fantastic national attractions to choose from, but western Canada has the edge when it comes to entertaining tourists, according to the newest 'State of Air Travel Poll' from FlightNetwork.com, one of Canada's leaders in online travel.

FlightNetwork.com's series of polls are aimed at giving Canadians a voice to weigh-in on the biggest issues facing the travel industry. This latest poll asked Canadian consumers to identify Canada's favourite tourist attractions.

  • 32.2% chose the Rocky Mountains as Canada's best attraction;

  • Ontario got a boost, with 25.4% choosing Niagara Falls as their favourite;

Asked what factors led to their 'best attraction' choice, an overwhelming 62.9% of the respondents cited amazing scenery/views as their top criteria, followed by 'lots to see/do' at 22.8%. Finally, a small number of participants (5.9%) also cited family friendly entertainment as the reason for their choice.
