Poll: Parliament Hill Haunted by History of Backstabbing and Criminal Behavior

Banff Springs Hotel named Canada's "Most Haunted" destination for second consecutive year

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 23, 2012) - As we approach All Hallows Eve and prepare for an onslaught of spooky costumes, cuteness and sugar, FlightNetwork.com has once again polled travelers to get an undead update on Canada's spookiest, spine-chilling, supernatural tourist attractions.

For the second consecutive year, the Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, AB topped the sinister, supernatural survey, with 29.3% of respondents naming it Canada's Most Haunted Destination. The HI Ottawa Jail Hostel placed a direful, disturbing distant second, believed to be haunted by 12% of respondents. Ominous Old Montreal - second in last-year's poll - rounded out the terrifying top-three with 11% of votes.

It appears there is no shortage of sinister sites across the nation, with votes narrowly split among a number of other dreadful destinations:

Craigdarroch Castle, Victoria, BC - 10.4%

Fort Garry Hotel, Winnipeg - 10.4%

Blood Alley in Gastown, Vancouver, BC - 8.8%

Fort Henry, Kingston, ON - 8.8 %

The Massey/Keg Mansion, Toronto, ON - 6.9%

Old Halifax Courthouse, Halifax, NS - 5.4%

The Deane House, Calgary, AB - 4.1%

While the results were largely spread out across the country, the final 10.7% of respondents had some additional horrible honorable menacing mentions, including much of the city of St. John's Newfoundland and the St. Louis "Ghost Train" in Saskatchewan.

Perhaps the most obvious place, however, is this response from a respondent: "It has GOT to be our Parliament Buildings in Ottawa for all the backstabbing, criminal behavior within those walls!"

Happy Halloween!
