PLEASANTON, CA and LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - June 17, 2008) - INFOCOMM booth no. N6019 -- Polycom, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLCM), the world's leading provider of unified collaborative communications solutions, today expanded the industry's broadest telepresence portfolio with three new immersive Polycom Telepresence Experience™ (TPX™) solutions that provide an interactive visual communication and content collaboration experience enabling people to work together more effectively, productively and naturally across distances. Polycom is the leading provider of telepresence solutions with more than 13,000 systems shipped to more than 1,000 customers worldwide, and more than 600 patents related to voice, video and telepresence technologies.

Attendees of InfoComm, NXTcomm and Educomm, taking place this week, June 18-20, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, will be able to experience live demonstrations of 1080p video capabilities scheduled for delivery in 2008 (Polycom booth no. N6019). Polycom plans to extend its telepresence portfolio to support 1080p resolution to meet customer applications requiring the highest clarity of video and content. Polycom will also demonstrate a new Polycom TPX 306M with content on the table as part of the InfoComm HD Conferencing & Telepresence Showcase (booth no. C2976).

"Telepresence is radically changing the face of business by removing distance as a barrier. Polycom is uniquely positioned to lead this change thanks to our unrivaled portfolio and proven technology," said Robert Hagerty, chairman and CEO of Polycom. "Our solutions are delivering bottom-line benefits today by helping customers reduce costs, shorten sales cycles, improve customer retention, and lower carbon emissions by providing an effective travel alternative."

Gartner, Inc., a leading analyst firm, also recently gave Polycom a "Positive" rating in Gartner's "MarketScope for Video Telepresence Solutions, 2008" dated April 21, 2008. According to the study, a "Positive" rating signals that Gartner considers that vendor a viable choice for strategic investments, while planning for known limitations, for potential customers. The study further states that by 2010, Gartner expects telepresence to generate $600 million in annual equipment revenue worldwide and with services included, total telepresence market revenue could reach $1.5 billion annually by 2010.

Polycom telepresence solutions can support virtually any environment with fully interoperable, standards-based solutions from personal telepresence for the desktop; room telepresence for conference rooms; specialized solutions for vertical applications; custom integrated-rooms; and immersive telepresence solutions that make people feel like they are in the same room as people in other locations.

The Polycom TPX series offers comprehensive solutions designed to make people feel like they are sitting across the table from coworkers, partners and customers residing in other locations. The same-room experience is made possible through high definition video displayed in lifelike proportions, crystal-clear high definition directional audio that allows participants to hear where remote participants are located within the room when they speak, and leading high definition content-sharing capabilities that allow participants to share virtually any type of content simultaneously in a call.

The new Polycom TPX 306M with content on the table is a three-screen solution for medium and large environments accommodating up to six people on camera in each location. It features personal, pop-up content displays embedded within the table, making content collaboration natural and effective during meetings. The Polycom TPX 204M is a new two-screen solution for small and medium conference environments accommodating up to four people in each location, and the TPX 102M is a single-screen solution for small meeting environment and offices accommodating up to two people at each location.

In addition to TPX, the Polycom telepresence portfolio includes the Polycom RealPresence™ Experience (RPX™) series, the industry's only complete room-within-a-room telepresence environments optimized to deliver the most effective and fully immersive telepresence experience available today. The Polycom RPX line supports up to 28 people on camera in each location, allowing for corporate meetings as well as higher capacity applications, such as interactive training centers, cross-continental classrooms, telemedicine studios and more.

The Polycom RPX and TPX immersive telepresence solutions offer controlled symmetrically designed environments that deliver a consistent, life-like experience.

Polycom also offers a complete line of flexible room telepresence solutions under its HDX telepresence line, which includes options for small, medium and large groups, as well as integrated room environments, and the HDX 4000™ personal telepresence systems for executive desktops and offices. All Polycom telepresence solutions are based on industry-leading, standards-based technology and interoperate at the highest possible quality levels with the large installed base of more than 1.5 million standards-based video conferencing systems in use today (including HD systems).

Polycom's entire telepresence line features the industry's top-rated high definition visual communication technology at its core. In October 2007, Wainhouse Research conducted a head-to-head evaluation of standards-based HD video solutions from three leading manufacturers and ranked Polycom's HDX high definition video technology as its "number one choice." Wainhouse gave Polycom top marks in eight out of 10 categories, including video quality, audio quality, and multimedia performance, as well as HD and SD (standard definition) interoperability, camera quality and performance, user interface and content-sharing performance (H.239).

The Polycom RPX and TPX immersive telepresence solutions include a highly integrated, 24x7 service option available through Polycom or certified partners that handles all call scheduling and set-up requirements and delivers high reliability and consistency thereby helping customers get the most out of their telepresence investments. In addition to telepresence managed services, Polycom also offers implementation and maintenance services through certified channel partners.

Polycom telepresence solutions are a key component of Polycom VC2, a comprehensive vision for next-generation visual communication that migrates customers from traditional, stand-alone video conferencing deployments to highly integrated, HD-quality and simple-to-use visual communication solutions and applications.
