Fujitsu Siemens Computers Uses Polycom Immersive Telepresence for Annual Press and Analyst Conference; Protecting the Environment and Reducing Carbon Emissions, While Leveraging a State-of-the-Art Experience for Participants

PLEASANTON, CA and MUNICH, GERMANY and SLOUGH, UK--(Marketwire - April 17, 2008) - Polycom, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLCM), the world's leading provider of unified collaborative communications solutions, and Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Europe's leading IT infrastructure provider, today announced the successful implementation of Polycom's immersive telepresence technology between Hallbergmoos and Slough in support of the Fujitsu Siemens Computers annual financial results conference for press and analysts. Fujitsu Siemens Computers is a bellwether in leveraging advanced technology for its businesses and green initiatives. Environmental protection has been a key element of Fujitsu Siemens Computers corporate philosophy and product development strategy for more than 20 years.

Bernd Bischoff, President and Chief Executive Officer at Fujitsu Siemens Computers, presented the company's 2007 results and key developments to 60 journalists and 50 analysts using the industry's only truly immersive telepresence solution, the Polycom Real Presence Experience™ (RPX), between two Polycom sites: Hallbergmoos, Polycom's German headquarters near Munich, and its UK headquarters in Slough near London.

"We are delighted with the results of our Polycom facilitated interactive meeting with leading industry analysts and media. It was a very innovative and professional use of immersive telepresence technology and had the added benefit of minimizing the effort and travel for the event. It provided an excellent experience for all participants as we all did appear to be in the same room. The event validates our efforts in using information technology conscientiously to protect our planet," said Bernd Bischoff, President & CEO of Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

Polycom's state-of-the-art RPX telepresence suites provided high quality, high definition, real-time and dynamic interaction between the Fujitsu Siemens Computers executives and the audience -- with less travel and at less cost for executives, journalists and analysts. The meeting was recorded using Polycom's RSS server, enabling convenient streaming of the event for those not able to attend the event. The use of Polycom telepresence systems fully supported the green initiatives of both companies and was a proof-point in reducing the carbon footprint. The audience-friendly and naturally proportioned 'face-to-face' communication enabled clearer exchanges, leading to increased analyst and press satisfaction compared to audio-only calls.

"This event was a special showcase of Polycom's immersive telepresence technologies aimed at supporting companies like Fujitsu Siemens Computers in a specific business activity with analysts and the media. Of course telepresence does more than improve communications and productivity in an enterprise, it is also increasingly viewed as a critical green technology -- valuable as an immediate means for reducing an organization's carbon footprint," added Steve Leyland, Polycom Managing Director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

The recording of the conference is now available on the Fujitsu Siemens Computers website, offering industry analysts, journalists and interested stakeholders the opportunity of accessing and experiencing the presentation.
