PolyMet Resumes Drilling Campaign at Minnesota Deposit

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 16, 2005) - PolyMet Mining Corp. (TSX VENTURE:POM)(OTCBB:POMGF) announced today that it has resumed its 2005 drilling campaign at its NorthMet Deposit in northeastern Minnesota.

The 55-hole or 55,000 foot in-fill drilling effort, scheduled to be completed before year-end, will target the center and eastern areas of a modeled 20-year open pit mine design.

IDEA International of Virginia, Minnesota is mobilizing multiple rigs to drill angled holes to produce core of 2.2 inches in diameter. An additional 8000 assays will be produced and integrated into an already extensive database to further verify the quantity, quality and confidence of copper, nickel, cobalt, platinum group metals and gold grades contained within the NorthMet deposit.

"This final drilling campaign will complete the data requirements necessary for inclusion in our final Definitive Feasibility Study," said William Murray, PolyMet's President and Chief Executive Officer.

PolyMet is also sampling another 20,000 feet of core drilled from the NorthMet deposit in the 1960s by United States Steel. Inclusion of the previously un-sampled United States Steel core in PolyMet's database will bring the total number of core samples to approximately 34,000.
