Poniard Pharmaceuticals Completes $1.9 Million Financing

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - February 9, 2011) - Poniard Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: PARD), a biopharmaceutical company focused on innovative oncology therapies, today announced the sale of 4,914,632 shares of its common stock to Small Cap Biotech Value, Ltd. for gross proceeds of $1,895,814, or approximately $0.39 per share, under its existing committed equity financing facility with Small Cap Biotech Value, Ltd. The Company intends to use net proceeds from this sale for working capital and other general corporate purposes.

The securities described above were sold by Poniard Pharmaceuticals pursuant to a registration statement previously filed and declared effective by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
