Pontiflex Launches Social FollowUp, Industry's First Automated Social Email Product for Local Businesses

Local Businesses Use Social FollowUp to Send Automated Emails Based on Their Facebook and Twitter Updates

BROOKLYN, NY--(Marketwire - Jul 24, 2012) - Pontiflex, Inc., the industry's leading mobile signup ad platform, today announced the launch of Social FollowUp -- an automated tool that helps local businesses send out emails based on their social updates. This is the first-of-its-kind social tool for email marketing and will be available free of charge to all businesses that have created accounts on the AdLeads self-serve mobile advertising platform.

Using AdLeads, local businesses can get new customers for their businesses by running mobile signup ads on top of iPhone, iPad and Android apps. With Social FollowUp, businesses will now be able to send automated emails to people who have signed up for their mobile ads. These emails will feature their most relevant and compelling social content. Pontiflex's Social FollowUp algorithms automatically select the most relevant social posts and images to build the emails in real time.

AdLeads is already integrated with top email service providers such as Constant Contact. These integrations enable businesses to engage people who have signed up for their ads with a relevant and meaningful stream of email communications. However, there are many local businesses that don't have the time, resources or knowledge to deploy a comprehensive email marketing program.

Social FollowUp enables these local businesses to deploy an automated email marketing program by re-purposing social content that they have posted on Facebook and Twitter. Social FollowUp allows local businesses to harness the power of email marketing easily. According to the DMA, the ROI on an email address is greater than $43 and, according to ExactTarget, more than 50 percent of consumers make a direct purchase as a result of email.

Gastropub 61 Local is among the hundreds of local businesses using Social FollowUp to engage people who have signed up to hear from them. Owner David Liatti started 61 Local to celebrate the culture of locally crafted food and beers in Brooklyn. 61 Local uses Facebook and Twitter to promote events, announce new arrivals, highlight local non-profits and promote local artists. With Social FollowUp, 61 Local is now able to leverage the email addresses of customers from their mobile signup ads, and now send automated emails that drive people to 61 Local's Facebook page, Twitter page and specific landing pages on their website. Now they are not only able to grow their Facebook fans and Twitter followers, but also utilize their social content to drive sales.

"The fact that the emails are completely automated is huge," said Liatti. "As a small business, we don't have the time to design and manage a complicated email program. Social FollowUp helps us take our Facebook and Twitter updates even further without having to do anything extra."

Local businesses have complete control over how they use Social FollowUp by:

  • Utilizing hash tags to select specific images and content from their social feeds
  • Choosing specific hash tags in their social posts to send out triggered emails to promote specific events, local deals, daily deals and coupons
  • Opting-in or out of using the tool to send automated emails

"We've been hearing a lot of talk about the convergence of email and social," said Zephrin Lasker, CEO and co-founder, Pontiflex. "But it's mostly been just that -- talk. We are happy to launch a tool that truly helps local businesses repurpose their social content to make email really work for them."
