PopCap Games Achieves Significant Increase in Return on Ad Spend With Omniture SearchCenter

OREM, UT--(Marketwire - September 15, 2009) - Omniture, Inc. (NASDAQ: OMTR), a leading provider of online business optimization software, today announced that PopCap Games, a leading computer games provider, is using Omniture SearchCenter together with Omniture SiteCatalyst to increase revenue from its search engine marketing (SEM) program. PopCap Games selected Omniture SearchCenter to provide detailed management of keywords and make complex bid changes to paid search campaigns based on its online analytics data. Using Omniture SearchCenter, PopCap Games experienced a positive return on ad spend (ROAS) and achieved a sustained improvement to ROAS from SEM by 200 percent.

"Prior to using Omniture SearchCenter, management was not convinced that they could meet their ROI goals with search engine marketing in the crowded games industry," says Kyle Parsons, Web analytics manager for PopCap Games. PopCap Games employed SiteCatalyst and SearchCenter together to manage all other online channels in conjunction with search engine marketing. The company measured ad spend and conversion across multiple channels, such as display advertising and content networks, alongside paid search. By optimizing spend on each channel, PopCap Games better maintained download volume even when a game had saturated the market.

SearchCenter also helped PopCap Games make data-driven decisions about how to increase on-site conversion rates from its SEM campaigns. For example, the PopCap team made a change to a landing page during an SEM campaign that they hoped would boost downloads and SearchCenter data identified where the gap in conversions was occurring. The team used the data to alter the landing page and restore conversion volume.
