Portrait Debuts as a Strong Performer in the Cross-Channel Campaign Management Space by Global Independent Research Firm

Portrait Software's Interaction Management, Data Management, and Analytical Platforms Compare Favorably With Those of Other Market Players

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - December 15, 2009) - Portrait Software, a leading provider of insight-driven customer interaction software, today announced that Forrester Research, a leading independent research firm, has named Portrait a 'Strong Performer' in its December 2009 inaugural Forrester™ Wave: Cross-Channel Campaign Management Q4, 2009 research report.

Forrester evaluated 11 cross-channel campaign management vendors across 91 criteria and 18 categories. Forrester selected vendors based on their existing market presence, defined as annual revenues of more than $25 million or an installed base of more than 200 enterprise customers using multiple platform modules. According to the Forrester™ Wave, "Portrait Software has a strong heritage in analytical platforms and inbound interaction management."

Portrait's Customer Analytics contributed to its good score in analysis capabilities by going "beyond traditional Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) by providing detailed record-level data access allowing completely flexible on-the-fly data summarization, filtering, etc.," reports Forrester Analyst, Suresh Vittal.

"We're extremely proud of the wide-ranging capabilities of the Portrait Suite, and Forrester's recognition reflects our market presence," said Luke McKeever, CEO, Portrait Software. "It is a positive step forward for Portrait to be included in the 'Strong Performer' category in this highly respected report. As we close a very exciting year, we're pleased with Portrait's progress and the insight our products have delivered to our customers to help them optimize their marketing efforts. We will use the findings from this report to further enhance our products."

In the assessment of data mining and modeling capabilities, the Forrester™ Wave states, "Portrait offers a unique, automated uplift modeling capability to predict the impact of an inbound or outbound marketing treatment based on randomized control data. This allows the marketer to optimize marketing ROI by filtering out negative offer impact (sleeping dogs) and reducing expenditure, and increase relevancy by excluding "lost causes" and "sure things" to instead focus on "persuadable" customers who will only act if targeted."

Other solutions within the Portrait Suite also performed well against other vendors' products. In his evaluation, Vittal reports, "unlike competing solutions which are often entirely reliant upon "screen-scrape" for information, Portrait's Interaction Optimizer accesses information in any accessible database, without requiring duplication."
