Powell to Speak at Annual Conference of International Society for Quality in Healthcare

Stephen Powell, CEO and President of Synensis, Will Present, "Debriefing to Improve Safety Culture and Reduce Preventable Obstetric Harm," on Tuesday, October 6, at the National Convention Center in Doha, Qatar

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - September 22, 2015) - Steve Powell, chief executive officer and president of Synensis, has been selected to present at the upcoming 32nd International Conference of the International Society for Quality in Healthcare, the company announced today. The four-day event kicks off on Sunday, October 4, at the National Convention Center in Doha, Qatar.

In keeping with the conference's theme, "Building Quality and Safety Into the Healthcare System," Powell will present, "Debriefing to Improve Safety Culture and Reduce Preventable Obstetric Harm" on Tuesday, October 6. His workshop is based on the results of a three-year patient safety collaborative led by the North Carolina Quality Center and supported by Synensis that included the participation of 30 obstetrics units. The project took place from 2012 to 2014 and emphasized simulation and role play to teach debriefing skills.

"Despite its simplicity, debriefing can have a tremendous impact on reducing preventable harm," said Powell, "but in order to be effective, you have to first use the tool correctly. This conference represents a wonderful opportunity to spread the knowledge of debriefing across an international audience."
