Power Assure Named a 'Cool Vendor' by Leading Analyst Firm

Vendors Selected for the 'Cool Vendor' Report Are Innovative, Impactful and Intriguing

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwired - May 15, 2013) - Power Assure®, Inc., a leading Software Defined Power solutions provider for data centers, today announced it has been included in the list of "Cool Vendors" in the "Cool Vendors in Data Center Infrastructure Management, Power and Cooling, 2013"1 report by Gartner, Inc. The report identifies emerging vendors whose products are designed to help Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) leaders and data center managers resolve the rapid rise in data center heat density, and better manage energy consumption in the data center.

The "Cool Vendor" list is a regular report that Gartner issues to identify technology that is innovative, enables users to do things they could not do before, is impactful and has been found to be intriguing by analysts over the past six months. Power Assure enables dynamic energy management within a data center, and across multiple data centers.

According to Pete Malcolm, president and CEO of Power Assure, "Data centers suffer outages more than 50% of the time because of power problems. Most mission critical applications today run 24/7 with no maintenance windows. Power and cooling is a significant often overlooked factor in determining application reliability. With Power Assure EM/4 software, data center managers can deliver a truly software defined data center by abstracting the facility infrastructure from the physical equipment to run it. 'Software-Defined Power' allows data center operators to shift an application to the data center with the most reliable and cost efficient power source at any given time and therefore ensures the ultimate reliability of the application. We believe that being recognized by Gartner as a cool vendor in our marketplace is more affirmation of the value our software delivers to customers."

Power Assure EM/4 software provides actionable, real-time and historical insight into power utilization and other key performance indicators (KPIs) for the data center, along with the tools to analyze, optimize and automate energy efficiency while improving service reliability and performance levels in the data center. PAR4 is an energy efficiency rating developed by Power Assure and tested by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to accurately measure server power usage on a transaction per watt basis.
