Powerball Jackpot to $20 Million; Two $600,000 Power Play Prizes Won!

POWERBALL--(Marketwire - August 30, 2007) - Powerball will go to an estimated $20 million for Saturday's drawing as the grand prize was not hit Wednesday evening. Even though the jackpot was not hit, two lucky tickets from North Carolina, and Pennsylvania won $600,000 each with the Power Play option! Three other lucky tickets sold in Kansas (1), and North Carolina (2) won $200,000 for matching all 5 white ball numbers.

The jackpot for the Saturday, September 1st drawing will be $20 million with the cash option at $9.3 million.

The numbers drawn Saturday evening were 13, 16, 33, 44, 47, and the Powerball was 29. The Power Play multiplier was 3.

Nineteen tickets matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Three additional players of that prize level wisely purchased the Power Play and had their prize multiplied by 3 for a $30,000 cash win! A total of 393,387 players across the nation won more than $4.5 million in prizes playing America's favorite game.

More than 76,754 winning Powerball players multiplied their prize by 3 Wednesday. They were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for $1. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings from 2-5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels.

Players purchased $17,657,437 in tickets between Sunday and Wednesday night.

The lotteries sold $2.5 billion in Powerball tickets in fiscal year 2007. That translates into over $725 million for worthwhile state projects.

Powerball is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
