PowerStream Customers Can Save at 'Exchange Events'

Get $50.00 coupons towards purchases of new dehumidifiers

VAUGHAN, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 17, 2014) - PowerStream is encouraging its customers with old inefficient dehumidifiers to take advantage of a special offer being made available through the saveONenergy EXCHANGE EVENT.

On the weekend of June 20th to 22nd, customers can bring in their old, inefficient and in working condition dehumidifiers to any Canadian Tire store across Ontario and exchange them for $50 coupons towards the purchase of replacement ENERGY STAR® qualified dehumidifiers.

Customers can save $50 towards the purchase of new energy-efficient dehumidifiers and enjoy ongoing savings of up to $50 per year in electricity costs when replacing their old units with ENERGY STAR qualified dehumidifiers.

To qualify for the $50 coupon, old dehumidifiers must be a minimum of 10 years of age and in working condition. All units that are exchanged will be recycled and decommissioned responsibly.

Since inefficient appliances are a draw on the electrical grid and customers' pocketbooks, replacing old dehumidifiers saves money, reduces the strain on the electrical grid and helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

QUOTES

  • "Older dehumidifiers are inherently inefficient, and new technologies have come a long way in reducing the energy use of these appliances," said John Sherin, PowerStream's Director, Conservation and Demand Management. "We want our customers to include energy-efficiency as a regular part of their decision-making process when purchasing any appliance. The EXCHANGE EVENT helps them make that decision. Not only will they be saving money by using a more efficient unit, but they also receive a $50.00 discount on their new purchase when they bring in their old dehumidifier for recycling."

BACKGROUND

  • ENERGY STAR qualified dehumidifiers have more efficient refrigeration coils, compressors, and fans than conventional models, which means they use less energy to remove moisture.
  • An ENERGY STAR qualified dehumidifier removes the same amount of moisture as a similarly-sized conventional unit, but uses 15% less energy. The annual energy saved by an ENERGY STAR qualified dehumidifier could power an ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerator for four months!
