PowerStream donates $64,000 to the United Way

YORK REGION, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 14, 2007) - Following another successful employee campaign in which a pre-set fundraising target was exceeded for the third year in a row, PowerStream Inc., York Region's largest electricity distribution company, today donated $64,000 to the United Way of York Region.

In an official presentation held at the utility's head office, representatives from PowerStream including Peter Meffe, Board Chair; Brian Bentz, President and CEO and Dennis Nolan, Executive Vice-President Corporate Services, handed over this year's annual campaign donation from the company to Daniele Zanotti, United Way of York Region CEO and Rickesh Lakhani, a campaign manager with the organization.

The 2007 PowerStream employee campaign, themed "We give with Character," raised almost $32,000 and was combined with a corporate donation to reach the total donated amount.

"I am extremely proud of what our employees were able to achieve in this year's campaign," Bentz commented. "We raised the bar substantially by setting an aggressive target of $30,000 and our staff once again met and exceeded the challenge."

"This is quite an achievement when you consider that this is only the third year that we have actually held an employee campaign," Nolan, who served as the company's United Way Campaign Chair, added. "It is a testimony to the type of character employees we have working at our company."

In accepting the donation on behalf of the United Way of York Region, Zanotti commended PowerStream for its continued support. In the nearly four years since PowerStream was created, the company has donated a total of $160,100 to the United Way of York Region's annual fundraising campaign.
