PowerStream Showcases 'Power for Tomorrow' at Markham Fair

Utility Featuring Solar Energy, Smart Grid, Electric Vehicles, Conservation, Safety & Bucket Truck Rides

MARKHAM, ON--(Marketwired - October 01, 2015) - PowerStream will be giving members of the public a glimpse of their energy future through various displays at the company's 'Power for Tomorrow' exhibit at the Markham Fair being held at the Markham Fairgrounds, October 1-4.

The displays will feature several new energy technologies and systems the company is utilizing today, or will be implementing sometime in the near future, to provide additional services and more value to its customers. This includes technologies related to solar energy, smart grid and electric vehicles as well as the utility's recently announced Residential Solar Storage pilot program. The 'Power for Tomorrow' exhibit will also have displays promoting conservation, electrical safety, eBilling and innovative initiatives such as Advantage Power Pricing.

As in previous years, 'Power for Tomorrow' will showcase the company's use of solar energy and smart grid technologies. Visitors to the exhibit will also be able to see and learn about how PowerStream is using its 100% electric Nissan LEAF™ vehicle to help the utility prepare for the expected wide-spread use of EVs in the future and in conjunction with evolving battery charging technologies.

Visitors to the exhibit are invited to participate in the Instagram contest that PowerStream will be promoting during the fair. 'Insta-WIN at Power for Tomorrow!' contest will allow individuals who post Instagram photos of themselves at the 'Power for Tomorrow' exhibit, tag @PowerStreamGram and include the hashtags #PowerStream or #MarkhamFair, eligible to win draw prizes.

Individuals and families attending the fair are also being encouraged to drop by the 'Power for Tomorrow' exhibit to learn how to prepare for an emergency by building a 72-hour emergency preparedness kit.

Visitors will also once again be able to enjoy one of Markham Fair's most popular annual attractions -- a free PowerStream bucket truck ride, which offers a panoramic view of the fairgrounds in a bucket hoisted in the air, 65 feet high
