Powertech Appoints Dr. James Munro as Senior Process Design Engineer

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 23, 2008) - POWERTECH URANIUM CORP. ("Powertech" or the "Company") (TSX:PWE)(FRANKFURT:P8A) is pleased to announce that it has appointed Dr. James Munro as Senior Process Design Engineer of the Dewey-Burdock in-situ uranium recovery project located approximately twelve miles northwest of Edgemont, South Dakota.

Dr. Munro is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of South Dakota. Dr. Munro was a Professor of Chemical Engineering for 28 years and was the Department Chairman of Chemical Engineering for 10 years at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, ("SDSM&T") before retiring in 2005. Dr. Munro holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah and has B.S. and M.S. degrees from SDSM&T.

Dewey-Burdock Project Manager, Mark Hollenbeck, stated, "I came to know and respect Dr. Munro when I was a student of his at SDSM&T during the 1980's. I welcome his expertise to the team of professionals that we have assembled at the Dewey-Burdock Project."
