Poynt Wins BlackBerry Partners Fund "Super Apps" Developer Challenge

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Nov. 22, 2010) - Poynt Corporation ("Poynt Corp." or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:PYN), a leading provider of mobile local search services, today announced their Poynt local search app ("Poynt" or the "App") has been named the North American winner of the third annual BlackBerry Partners Fund "Super Apps" Developer Challenge.

This year's Developer Challenge judged almost 400 different applications for BlackBerry® smartphones from around the globe. Applications were rated on quality, user experience and how effectively they incorporate "Super App" characteristics. Super Apps are applications that leverage the unique capabilities of the BlackBerry® Application Platform.

Poynt tightly integrates with native applications on BlackBerry® smartphones to create a seamless user experience and a better overall customer experience. Some examples of Poynt's Super App qualities include:

  • Set search location from a contact's address within BlackBerry® Contacts
  • Add business listings found in Poynt to BlackBerry Contacts
  • Add movie and restaurant events and invite attendees using BlackBerry® Calendar
  • Complete a search, then map a route using BlackBerry® Maps and get turn-by-turn directions
  • Use BlackBerry Maps to set location and search from there
  • Reverse look-up missed calls from the BlackBerry® Call Log
  • Receive notification of movie ticket purchases via BlackBerry® Messages
  • Email search results to contacts using BlackBerry Messages
  • Visual notification of movie ticket purchase using the BlackBerry® Home Screen Banner
  • Integration with BlackBerry® Universal Search on BlackBerry® 6 operating system

"This is a huge honour for Poynt," said Andrew Osis, CEO, Poynt Corp. "The Developer Challenge presented some stiff competition. Our goal is to continually add, refine and evolve Poynt into a one-stop app for users. It's great to be recognized by the BlackBerry community for our hard work and know that we are moving in the right direction."

Entrants in the 2010 Developer Challenge were each competing for a total prize package valued at over 1.5 million dollars, including an elite membership in the BlackBerry Alliance Program, an app promo package, BlackBerry smartphones and prominent placement on BlackBerry App World™ for three weeks.

Poynt is available as a free download for BlackBerry smartphone users on BlackBerry App World (www.blackberry.com/appworld) or via Over the Air download at m.poynt.com to users in Canada, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Spain and Australia.
