Pratt & Whitney Canada Employee Donations to Centraide Top $1 Million for Sixth Consecutive Year

LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 3, 2010) - Pratt & Whitney Canada employees and retirees in Quebec have once again generously supported Centraide of Greater Montreal, donating more than $1 million to the organization's annual campaign for a sixth consecutive year and surpassing 2009 contributions. P&WC is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company.

"I am so proud of our employees' and retirees' efforts to help less fortunate members of our society," said John Saabas, President of P&WC, as he presented a cheque for $1,114,596 to Michèle Thibodeau-DeGuire, President and Executive Director of Centraide, during a ceremony held at P&WC's Longueuil facility. "Year after year, they show incredible generosity towards this remarkable organization which plays such a vital role in supporting worthy causes throughout the Greater Montreal region."

P&WC's Centraide campaign, held at its Quebec facilities this fall, featured a number of creative activities to raise money, including a spaghetti lunch, a variety show, a hockey ticket draw and a golf tournament with over 250 participants. The bulk of contributions came through payroll deduction, with 63 per cent of employees participating and giving a record average of $336 per employee.

P&WC's Leaders Circle campaign, for employees who make an annual donation of over $1,000, was also highly successful, raising $363,464 from a total of 261 Leaders. "We're pleased that 50 new Leaders joined us this year, helping us continue our tradition of giving back to our local communities," said Maria Della Posta, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing.

"We are delighted by this year's result and want to thank all our volunteers for working so hard to make it such a success," said Patrick Boone, director of this year's campaign.

Aside from making generous donations, P&WC employees also volunteered throughout the year at several organizations supported by Centraide. For example, in November, operations employees volunteered at the Moisson Rive-Sud food bank, which helps over 20,000 people each month, including almost 9,000 children.
