PraxisFlow Sponsors Fort Myers National Kidney Walk to Raise Awareness for Chronic Kidney Disease

Founder and Chief Scientist Kevin Behr, and Wife Erica, Lead the Effort Following Their Successful Kidney Transplant Surgeries in January

TAMPA, FL--(Marketwired - Mar 12, 2015) - PraxisFlow, a global technology management practice offering continuous development and operational guidance to C-suite executives and boards of directors at organizations worldwide, today announced it will sponsor the 2015 Fort Myers Kidney Walk, this Sunday, March 15, at Lakes Regional Park in Fort Myers.

PraxisFlow Founder and Chief Scientist Kevin Behr was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2013, and found a match from his wife, Erica, a philosophy student at the University of Tampa studying ethics and social justice. The couple underwent life-changing transplant surgery in mid-January, and Erica soon formed a team to raise awareness and inspire others to make a difference. In recent weeks during recuperation the couple turned to close friends and family, including daughters Emily, 20, and Rachel, 15, to raise more than $2,000 to-date for the Fort Myers walk.

"In supporting the National Kidney Foundation by participating in this and future Kidney Walks, we hope to raise awareness of Chronic Kidney Disease and its causes, and ultimately to provide support for the vast amount of people who are struggling through it, as patients, caretakers, or living donors. We struggled hard for two years to get to the transplant day, and were lucky for such a brief wait and for the wonderful care we received at Tampa General Hospital. We recognize our good fortune, our privilege, and hope to help those who rely on the National Kidney Foundation and its work," the couple said in a statement.

Increases in diabetes and high blood pressure, two critical kidney disease risk factors, have sadly seen kidney disease rates on the rise. The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) is focused on working to reach the one in three American adults currently at risk with important prevention messages. Each year, more than 75,000 walkers join the NKF to raise over $8M to help kidney patients and their families. Accordingly, kidney walk participation has never been more critical and more than 80 cents of every dollar donated directly supports programs and services.

In addition to his leadership roles in public and private companies, Kevin Behr co-founded the IT Process Institute with Gene Kim, and served as its president for the first five years. He is the author of: The Definitive Guide to IT Management in the Adaptive Enterprise (Hewlett-Packard); Managing Certificate Lifecycles (Verisign - Thawte); co-author of the The Visible Ops Handbook; and co-author of the Amazon.com best seller: The Phoenix Project: A Novel About IT, DevOps, and Helping Your Business Win.
