Prefabricated Modular Steel Bridging From Acrow Bridge Helps Local Residents During Construction in Bucks County, PA

Temporary Detour Bridge Provides Access in Historically Significant Area Surrounding New Hope, PA

PARSIPPANY, NJ--(Marketwired - Apr 23, 2015) - Acrow Bridge, a leading international bridge engineering and supply company, today announced that the installation of a 160-foot steel bridge has been completed in the historically significant New Hope, PA area, a popular tourist destination. The temporary bridge is to be used as a bypass during the replacement of a structurally deficient bridge over Tohickon Creek on Route 32 in Point Pleasant, PA. Acrow's detour bridge, which was opened on March 27, is scheduled to be in operation for eight to ten months during the reconstruction.

Working with Acrow engineers and field staff, Loftus Construction of Cinnaminson, NJ completed the difficult installation of the superstructure in four weeks in a constricted area on the tributary to the Delaware River. In addition to allowing uninterrupted access to homes and businesses in the immediate area, the temporary detour bridge facilitates access to the many visitors to New Hope, PA and nearby Frenchtown, NJ. Without Acrow's temporary detour bridge, Point Pleasant would be cut off to traffic from north and south.

"The Acrow detour bridge, which can be rented or purchased, is particularly popular because of its modular steel design. Durable and easy to assemble, disassemble, transport, store and customize for future use, our 'temporary' bridges are a logical choice for state DOTs. But, for local residents and area businesses, the payoff is immediate, with much shorter disruption of travel time and routes," said Bill Killeen, President and CEO of Acrow Bridge. "The use of temporary detour bridges has grown significantly in recent years as more and more contractors use them to stay on or ahead of schedule and control costs, while providing a safe and dependable route for traffic."
