Tourism provides an excellent opportunity for economic development in Canada. The Government of Canada's investment in tourism projects reflects its willingness to support actions that generate substantial economic benefits in the Gaspésie region.

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Member of Parliament for Gaspésie-Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Minister of National Revenue, announced that $655,000 in financial assistance has been granted to the town of Percé under the Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP).

The non-repayable contribution will enable the town to carry out preliminary studies; obtain the required environmental authorizations; validate a coastal protection model; and produce technical descriptions, preliminary plans and specifications, and cost estimates for the project.
