Premier Health and Evolent Health to Lower Costs and Expand Quality Care

Partnership Includes Launch of Premier Health Plan and Value Contracting With Key Payers

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - October 28, 2014) - Evolent Health, a leader in helping progressive health care systems lead, build and own the path to value-based care, announces a long-term partnership with Premier Health to further Premier's mission to build healthier communities and to provide high-quality, cost-competitive health care services. Premier Health, the largest health system in southwestern Ohio, is utilizing Evolent's full suite of population health, financial, administrative, network, transformation and technology solutions. The integrated array of solutions supports Premier's efforts to create enhanced clinical value for the community and to generate returns it can reinvest toward its mission.

"In these times of great change, innovative approaches to care delivery are needed to keep individuals in the community healthy," said James Pancoast, President and Chief Executive Officer of Premier Health. "We selected Evolent as our partner in value-based care transformation because of their proven solutions and clinical model. Evolent has helped to accelerate our mission across southwestern Ohio."

"We recognized the historical way of doing business, under a fee-for-service model, was not sustainable," said Mike Maiberger, Senior Vice President, Value-Based Services of Premier Health. "We are early adopters of transforming to a value-based model as we believe it is the best path for our community -- not only for overall health, but also for long-term financial prosperity."

Premier Health, a not-for-profit system, and Evolent first partnered in early 2013 to manage health care for Premier's employee population, resulting in cost improvements while simultaneously increasing employee engagement. Premier Health will apply this successful model in expanding into commercial and Medicare Advantage markets with the broader launch of Premier Health Plan currently underway. Premier is also working with Evolent to extend these same population health capabilities to its existing and future payer partners.

"Improving patient care is at the heart of what we do. However, all too often patients and physicians are impeded by fragmented processes that impact the patient relationship and drive up costs for everyone," said Dr. Jerry Clark, President and Chief Medical Officer of Premier Health Group and Chief Medical Officer, Premier Health Plan. "Our partnership with Evolent has equipped us with the financing models and the population health tools required to lower costs, expand access and consistently provide better care for our patients."

"Premier Health is a true leader in the advancement of value-based care," said Seth Blackley, President of Evolent Health. "We are proud to partner with Premier as they build upon early successes and extend their value-based care capabilities to communities across southwestern Ohio. Through a payer-neutral approach, they're enabling exceptional care delivery across all patient populations."
