TUSTIN, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 22, 2016) - Premier Holding Corporation (OTCQB: PRHL) announced that its Board Member, Dr. Woodrow W. Clark II, MA3, PhD, a Qualitative Economist and Managing Director of Clark Strategy Partners, was appointed to the United Nations B20 Financial Growth Taskforce.
Late last year, the Financial Stability Board (FSB) of the United Nations announced it is establishing an industry-led disclosure task force on climate-related financial risks under the chairmanship of Michael R. Bloomberg. This task force will develop voluntary, consistent climate-related financial risk disclosures for use by companies in providing information to lenders, insurers, investors and other stakeholders.
The task force considered the physical, liability and transition risks associated with climate change and what constitutes effective financial disclosures in this area. Now five B20 Taskforces seek to develop a set of recommendations for consistent, comparable, reliable, clear and efficient climate-related disclosures, as set out in the FSB's proposal in November 2015. This year (2016) the B20 Taskforces are supported by China.
Speaking about his role, Michael R. Bloomberg said, "It's critical that industries and investors understand the risks posed by climate change, but currently there is too little transparency about those risks. When Governor Carney laid out the idea for a Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, I offered him my full support to help make it a success. While the business and finance communities are already playing a leading role on climate change, through investments in technological innovation and clean energy, this Task Force will accelerate that activity by increasing transparency. And in doing so, it will help make markets more efficient, and economies more stable and resilient."
Each B20 Taskforce is comprised of senior technical experts from firms that are the preparers and users of company risk disclosures, as well as risk analysts, among them, our own Dr. Clark. The members of the B20 Taskforces are private-sector individuals drawn from financial and nonfinancial companies across a broad range of countries. Clark brings private sector experiences along with public-sector and academic experiences to provide innovative ways that provide the basis to what he called in one of last books (2012) The Next Economics.
As a member of this B20 Financial Taskforce, Dr. Clark is part of a team of 83 economists from around the world who have backgrounds and expertise on economic solutions to problems. Dr. Clark said: "I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Bloomberg about the investment in technical innovation and clean energy. This is why I am such an enthusiastic member of the Board of Premier Holding. I see the company doing great things in this area that are long overdue." He notes that PRHL "is among those companies that take notice of what is happening in the world and turn it into a commercial reality. Without companies like PRHL it would be almost impossible to make a change for the better in regards to energy efficiency, improving the world economy and improving our environment for our children and grandchildren."
Chairman and CEO of Premier Holding, Randall Letcavage added: "We offer our congratulations to our Board Member, Dr. Clark. His insights and his having his finger on the pulse of the energy industry are invaluable to the company and its shareholders. The products and services we are offering now, such as Smart Home and Smart Apartment technology were first brought to our attention by him years ago, and we have been preparing for a future which seems to arrive much faster than anyone thought. As the old saying goes 'luck favors the prepared' and Dr. Clark has helped us be prepared for the rapid changes coming in the energy efficiency industry." His book on The Green Industrial Revolution (2014 in English and 2015 in Mandarin) has led the way for what he calls his latest book, Smart Green Cities (Routledge Press, March 2016) in which PRHL is focused and leading.
