Premier, Minister in Toronto to Meet With Economists and Business Leaders

WHITEHORSE, YUKON--(Marketwired - Feb. 4, 2015) - Premier Darrell Pasloski and Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources Scott Kent, along with several members of Yukon's mining and exploration industry, are meeting today with key Canadian economists and business leaders in Toronto to discuss and promote business opportunities in Yukon.

"Our goal is to set a long-term vision for growth and success in the territory," said Pasloski. "Achieving that goal involves having discussions about Yukon's place in Canada when it comes to investment and potential."

Prior to conducting these meetings, Premier Pasloski opened the Toronto Stock Exchange, accompanied by Minister Kent and several members of Yukon's mining and exploration industries.

"We will position Yukon to take advantage of investment and capitalize on opportunities when there is an upturn in the markets," Kent added. "We want to build a mineral industry that adheres to high environmental standards and is engaged with First Nations and communities."

The Premier and Minister will also discuss the start of work on a Mineral Development Strategy. Over the coming year there will be several opportunities for Yukoners, First Nations and industry to provide input into this strategy.
