Premier Traveler Magazine Receives the Best Business Travel Media Award 2013

Premier Traveler Wins Kudos from the Tanzania Tourist Board for "A Trek Through Tanzania" by Editor-in-Chief Ally Miola

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - September 27, 2013) - When Ally Miola traveled to Tanzania on assignment for Premier Traveler (PT), she discovered a country of countless charms - from the wild beauty of Katavi National Park and the shimmering peace of Lupita Island, snuggled between the shores of Lake Tanganyika, to the openhearted charm of friendly villagers - and pronounced the country "among the continent's best-kept secrets."

The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) made no secret of their appreciation of the article that Miola carved out of her experience: Published in this year's February/March issue of PT, and entitled "A Trek Through Tanzania," the piece has now garnered for the magazine the TTB's Business Travel Media Award for 2013.

"I'm absolutely thrilled," enthused Miola. "Visiting Tanzania was such an amazing experience; it was the trip of a lifetime. The country is more starkly beautiful than you can imagine, and I tried to share that with our readers. My deepest gratitude goes out to the Tanzania Tourist Board - and to all the local people I met while I was there, each one of whom made my journey especially memorable."

The TTB Awards were created in order to express appreciation to the travel professionals and media who have supported Tanzania by visiting and writing about the country. The award-winning PT article introduced readers to a few of Tanzania's hidden gems, such as the Palahala Safari Camp in Katavi National Park and the private Lupita Island, on Lake Tanganyika.

Tanzania was recently in the news when the country was chosen to represent the continent as the home of three of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa: Mount Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti's Wildebeest Migration.

"We are incredibly proud of Ally," said Adam Rodriguez, PT's Executive director. "She is an inspiring leader and it continues to show in the accomplishments of our editorial team. She's very popular and, for anyone who knows her, it's easy to understand why. She's also very accessible and in touch with our readership. Her trip to Tanzania was a wonderful experience, and that comes through very clearly in the article. We humbly thank the Tanzania Tourist Board for not only rewarding our efforts but recognizing our passion."

This past spring, PT articles won first-place awards from the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) published in the magazine: "Buddy Up," an inside look at airline alliances, won 2013 Best Magazine Article-U.S. Travel; and "The Hidden Corners of Qatar," which delved beneath the surface of the Middle Eastern country, won 2013 Best Magazine Article-Foreign Travel. Adding to those awards this latest distinction from the TTB truly gives the magazine the thumbs up on a job well done.

"The great thing about awards is that they prove to us that we're on the right track," said Rodriguez. "From day one, we have dedicated ourselves to our readers. We do surveys; we respond to emails; we include reader feedback in our articles. In short, we listen - and our readers have responded with enthusiastic support. We're gratified to know that others around the world, like the SATW and the TTB, are paying attention, too."
