Government of Canada supports the Societe historique Alphonse-Desjardins


LEVIS, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 13, 2014) - Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and Member of Parliament (Lévis-Bellechasse), today announced $50,000 in funding for the Société historique Alphonse-Desjardins. He made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

This financial support, provided through the Collections Management component of the Museums Assistance Program, will enable the historical society to acquire specialized equipment for storing its museum collections, particularly coins and works of art.

  • Maison Alphonse-Desjardins is a museum devoted to promoting the origins of the Desjardins Group and the history of its founder and co-founder, Alphonse Desjardins and Dorimène Desjardins.
  • The Société historique Alphonse-Desjardins has about 6,000 artifacts, which will be supplemented by a number of works from the collection of artworks owned by Desjardins.
