President George W. Bush will address hundreds of service members, veterans, military spouses, and employers at the Fort Carson Transition Summit, a two-day event focused on preparing military service members and their families for the transition to civilian careers. Held in partnership with the George W. Bush Institute, USO Transition 360 Alliance and U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Hiring Our Heroes, the summit is scheduled for Sept. 13 and 14, and is a collaborative effort to connect members of the military community to meaningful employment opportunities before they transition out of the armed forces. Senior leaders from the private and public sectors will also attend the summit to learn and share best practices in hiring veterans and military spouses.

The first day of the summit will feature a myriad of workshops for job seekers, ranging from entrepreneurship options to resume writing. Industry briefs will introduce career options in industries from agriculture to hospitality, and local employers will have the opportunity to hear best practices in veteran recruitment and retention from a number of national employers.

President Bush will offer remarks on the summit's second day, followed by a panel discussion for job seekers and a hiring fair for service members, veterans and military spouses featuring more than 100 local and national employers.

This summit is sponsored by CarMax, Lockheed Martin, MAXIMUS, Toyota, and USAA. The event features participation by and speakers from Fort Carson, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans' Employment and Training Services, Soldier for Life, the U.S. Department of Defense's Transition to Veterans Program Office, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the George W.
