OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb. 5, 2014) - Canada is facing skills shortages of unprecedented proportions in many regions and sectors of its economy. Colleges, institutes and polytechnics play a pivotal role in helping alleviate these shortages by providing advanced skills to learners who are workplace ready at graduation. Solutions to the country's economic challenges cannot however be met by these institutions alone. At the recent National Skills Summit hosted by the Association of Canadian Community Colleges, senior leaders from industry, labour, government and colleges stressed collaborative approaches as essential both within and across sectors. Denise will speak to the solution oriented outcomes and next steps from the Summit. She will speak to the contribution of colleges, institutes and polytechnics to Canada's productivity and growth, including mitigating measures to address the skills mismatch and shortages.
