President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Health Infoway to address the Economic Club of Canada

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 24, 2013) - Canada recently refreshed its digital health strategy. Join Richard Alvarez as he talks about the steps that Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) and its partners are taking to accelerate progress in digital health, improve the patient experience and address enablers that need to be in place to achieve this.

Infoway recently consulted more than 500 Canadians, clinicians, governments, health care administrators, national associations and vendors to better understand their priorities for health and health care, and the supporting role that technology will play.

Alvarez will walk through the result: Five opportunities for action that will build on the foundation that has been laid, and continue to drive the health agenda in years to come.

Indeed, much work remains. Canada still lags other countries in several critical areas, such as use of EMRs by family doctors, and providing e-services for consumers. Canada's new digital health strategy sets the stage for future progress in these areas, building on the progress has been made in the digital health space to date.

And that progress has already yielded tangible results for Canadians. For instance, the use of diagnostic images, drug information systems, telehealth and electronic medical record (EMR) systems have resulted in $8.6 billion in benefits since 2007.
