The President of the United Nations General Assembly and the People+Planet Project Welcome Oprah Winfrey to UN Headquarters for Special Screening of "Belief"

Following the Screening, Oprah Winfrey Will Lead a Discussion on How Interfaith Peace-Building Can Create the Context for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Oct 13, 2015) - The President of the United Nations General Assembly, His Excellency Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, in collaboration with the People+Planet Project (P+PP) will welcome Oprah Winfrey to UN Headquarters for a special early screening of Winfrey's new docu-series "Belief" on October 15.

This one-hour preview of "Belief" will be followed by an intimate conversation and reception at the United Nations with Winfrey about how peace-building across faiths can create context for achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Produced by the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), this event is one of the P+PP's first initiatives in support of the United Nations SDGs and comes shortly after Pope Francis's historic address to the UN General Assembly. Pope Francis's call for peace and unity throughout the global community will be echoed in the discussion following the screening, as an audience of UN officials, delegates, religious leaders and supporters of the SDGs discuss how interfaith peace-building is essential to achieving the new agenda for sustainable development.

"Belief," a seven-night documentary series on spirituality and culture around the world, will premiere October 18.

This press release was made possible through our media partner PVBLIC Foundation.

Media interested in attending the screening must RSVP with Leia Schultz (leia@globalbrain.is) by Tuesday, October 13.

From the epic to the intimate, webbed throughout each hour are stories of people on spiritual journeys, taking them to sacred spaces, leading us to ask: "What do you believe?"
