'Pressure Cooker' is a relentless, mind bending emotional roller coaster ride that tests the old saying, "too many cooks spoil the broth". Shot in HD format it is a gripping fly-on-the-wall revelation of the egoistic madness that saturates every great Chef's kitchen. The pace is frantic and the personalities are driven and diverse. There's no shortage of ego here!

Sixteen wannabe 'rock star' male and female Chefs from across the country compete in the most brutal elimination culinary "black box" competition ever staged. They find themselves confronting a punishing cooking gauntlet riddled with emotional skill testing trip-wires.

The nine one-hour episodes are loaded with unpredictable turns and seething with frenzied discord. The 'Pressure Cooker' is nothing less than a searing marathon testing culinary talents, emotional fortitude, mental agility and physical stamina. To monitor stress levels, competing Chefs are equipped with MyPulse wireless heart monitors that provide real time readings.

Within the elimination format Chefs are whittled from sixteen down to the two finalists who face off in a thrilling gastronomic duel in concluding episode # 9.

Three demanding Tasting Judges Mark Picone, Cornelia Volino and Tawfik Shehata score the dishes, while several Kitchen Judges monitor the teams performance in their kitchens. The Kitchen Judges are empowered to eliminate chefs from the losing teams - an unpleasant job fraught with indignation and regret.

The rapid pace will leave viewers breathless as they watch highly skilled Chefs whip up dishes from unknown ingredients in very stressful timeframes. Shot on HD format in Niagara College's Culinary teaching kitchens gives viewers an urgent sense of being where the action is in an unscripted yet highly structured format. Viewers get to see the good, bad and the sometimes ugly that is unleashed when impassioned Chefs are determined to produce nothing short of excellence.

Pressure Cooker becomes a life-altering experience for every competing Chef and Judges. The documentary style delivers a hard-hitting, relentless insight into the turbulent culinary world as it's never been seen before. It is as poignant as it is chaotic. This is a series where the most gifted Writers could not have imagined - in their wildest dreams, the outcome. It is a compelling insight into Chefs and their unbridled passion, dedication, resolve and commitment for perfection.

Pressure Cooker premiers Sunday, November 2, 2008 from 10 - 11pm on SUN TV with a national broadcast commencing Monday, November 3, 7 - 8 pm on MEN TV.
