Prevent Cancer Foundation Hosts Family-Friendly 5k Walk/Run and Health Fair

Foundation Encourages Families to Learn About Cancer Prevention and Early Detection

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - September 13, 2016) - The Prevent Cancer Foundation will host its 8th Annual 5k Walk/Run and Health Fair on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Nationals Park. This event encourages families and individuals to kick-start healthy behaviors, like exercising and eating a healthy diet, which can significantly reduce cancer risk.

Participants will take off from the starting line at Nationals Park for an untimed 5k walk or run. When they cross the finish line back at the stadium, they can explore a health fair featuring more than 20 community partners that are promoting healthy living, entertaining kids, and providing free cancer screenings and healthy snacks. Participants can also check out the Nationals' dugouts and take a swing in the batting cages.

The Prevent Cancer 5k Walk/Run and Health Fair supports the Prevent Cancer Foundation in its mission of saving lives across all populations through cancer prevention and early detection. Funds from this event go to research, education, outreach and advocacy.

This is a family- and dog-friendly event. All dogs must be on leashes and have appropriate tags. Cost of individual registration is $30 and kids under age 5 run free. Event takes place rain or shine.
