SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - March 16, 2016) - The Technology Services Industry Association (TSIA), the leading association for today's technology and services organizations, has released a downloadable chapter preview of its upcoming book, Technology-as-a-Service Playbook: How to Grow a Profitable Subscription Business, which is slated to premiere at the TSW San Diego 2016 conference this May. The new book is designed to act as a guide for technology companies looking to build and optimize a cloud business.

In their previous book, B4B, TSIA executives Thomas Lah and J.B. Wood chronicled the rising popularity of cloud-based business models and the transition technology companies are making from products to services. Technology-as-a-Service Playbook: How to Grow a Profitable Subscription Business takes readers on the next step of this transformation journey, providing technology companies with the industry background, frameworks, and action plan they need to grow and scale a profitable technology-as-a-service (XaaS) business.

Chapter 2 of Technology-as-a-Service Playbook is available for download via the TSIA website, and sets the stage for the topics to be covered, as well as providing the industry background that led to its inception.

"Customers are choosing new ways to consume technology, and while more solution providers are adding XaaS offers to their portfolios, many are still struggling to be profitable," says co-author of the book and executive director of TSIA, Thomas Lah. "We wrote Technology-as-a-Service Playbook to act as a guidebook for those companies who want to be successful in the cloud market, but need to know what specific actions they can take to achieve this outcome."

The book's topic also mirrors the theme of TSIA's upcoming spring conference, TSW San Diego 2016, "Tech as a Service: Winning in the Cloud," occurring May 2-4 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. At this event, attendees will learn how to grow and scale a profitable technology-as-a-service business through impactful sessions, keynotes, and networking events where industry experts can share experiences and best practices. Attendees will be among the first to have access to Technology-as-a-Service Playbook upon its release, which coincides with the conference.

"With the theme of TSW San Diego 2016 being 'Tech as a Service: Winning in the Cloud,' there's a great opportunity for attendees to combine the lessons learned from the conference with plays from the book and have everything they need to be successful in the cloud," said co-author, president and CEO of TSIA, J.B. Wood.

Chapter 2 of Technology-as-a-Service Playbook: How to Grow a Profitable Subscription Business is available for download on the TSIA website at Co-author Thomas Lah will also be hosting a webinar called, "TSIA Book Preview: Technology-as-a-Service Playbook," which will air on March 23, 2016. In this online session, he will be sharing a first look at some of the key concepts that will be covered in the book.
