Primary Petroleum's Highview 16-5 Well Commences Production Testing and Extends 3D Seismic Program in Montana

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - June 9, 2008) - Primary Petroleum Corporation (TSX VENTURE:PIE)(PINK SHEETS:PETEF) ("Primary" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that its Highview 16-5 discovery well has commenced production testing which is expected to last approximately 30 to 40 days. The Company has entered into a sales contract whereby it receives WTI minus $10 per barrel at the well head.

Additionally, Primary is proceeding with a four sq. mi. extension to the current 3D seismic coverage to evaluate the Sunburst structure that has been identified in the Highview 16-5 discovery oil well on its Teton prospect in Western Montana. This program is expected to be completed and processed by the end of the month.

"The production testing on the Highview 16-5 well represents a major milestone for Primary. Our mandate is to become a low cost explorer, producer and developer of hydrocarbons in Montana," states Mike Marrandino, President & CEO. "The size of the current reservoir is yet to be determined, but our entire management team are very excited and committed to our current prospects in both Western and Eastern Montana."

The current 3D seismic data identifies a number of prospective Sunburst drilling locations on land holdings of which Primary holds 100% interest and are subject to a 12.5% overriding royalty. The extended 3D seismic program should delineate the extent of the Highview pool.

Primary's current and extended 3D seismic program will cover approximately one-sixth of its current net acres on its Pondera prospect.

Completion and Testing Update - The completion and testing on the two of three wells is on-going. The Madison formation in the Second Guess 2-11 well tested water. Further evaluation on the Second Guess structure is continuing.

Primary has engaged the services of Hycal Energy Research Laboratories ("Hycal") to assist in determining the most effective means in completing the Bynum 5-9 and 7-34 wells. Results from the Hycal study should be available within the next four to six weeks.

Primary has identified six prospective structures on the Teton prospect from its 2D and 3D seismic data and several wells will be required to adequately evaluate these features.
